A family is saying good-bye one week after an alleged 17-year-old gang member shot and killed their innocent loved one.

Friends and relatives of David Pannell Jr. crowded into Destiny Family Center Church in Stuarts Draft with tears and memories of a life cut short by violence.

Many of the people filling the church pews were wearing blue bandanas, the very thing they say got 22-year-old David killed.

As sorrow filled the funeral service, so too did determination to fight to end gang violence.

Forgiveness also flowed in addition to tears.

"He was a very good kid and we loved him to death," said David's uncle, Roy Huffer. "We still feel sorry for the family of the shooter, you know, our hearts go out to them also and it is hard on all of us"

The family will say a final good-bye at the very place where David's life ended, the Shell gas station.

They will be holding a candlelight vigil between 10:30 and 11:04, the time David lost his life one week ago.
