It has been three weeks since college student Tyler Binsted was murdered in Richmond.

On Saturday night, people came together in honor his life and to raise money for his family during a benefit concert at Windhaven Church in Mount Jackson.

During the concert, Tyler's father, Thomas Binsted, said, he was comforted by something Tyler told him not long before his death.

He says, "I asked Tyler about his spirituality and he said, 'Dad, you know as far as I'm concerned, this is just a stop on the long road. This is nothing but a temporary thing this life.'"

Last month, Tyler was shot in the back as he and a friend walked away from an armed robbery.
