ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va -- Flowers mark the spot of the crash that killed Jackson Reel, 16-years-old, and Cyndal Ward, 17-years-old. The whole community was devastated to see two young people go too soon.

Juanita Smith lives close to where the accident happened. She said Cyndal, who was driving, was new to the area.

"She may not have been familiar with the road and at that particular place. It is a bad turn, and sometimes the vehicles come around those turns on the wrong side of the road," said Smith.

Smith said there is not a posted speed limit on the road, so sometimes if people are driving more than 50 miles per hour on turns, it can be dangerous.

Smith said Coopers Mountain Rd is straight sometimes, where people drive fast, but then there are turns that can appear as surprise. That is where she said people really need to slow down.

"I know I do the same thing myself, so I don't mean in any way to be critical of younger people because I don't always drive safely myself."

Smith said she hoped this accident will make everyone who drives in the area aware of the dangers of the road.

Virginia State Police say roads that are not marked with speed limits, like Coopers Mountain Rd, allow drivers to go 55 miles per hour.

According to a post on a Facebook page in memory of the two teens, Cyndal was able to save three live by donating her heart, a kidney and her liver.
