The Harrisonburg School Board expressed disappointment Tuesday night concerning the allegations of prescription drug abuse by some Harrisonburg High School football players.

In a statement, the school board announced it is using an independent investigator to gather facts.

The board chair, Kerri Wilson, says, "The board is committed to using the findings of the investigation to develop, as necessary, responsive and corrective action to make certain that our policies and procedures are well-developed to help minimize the likelihood of this kind of activity occurring again. And to make certain all of our staff clearly understand their obligations with regard to suspected drug activity."
