Poultry company Pilgrim's Pride officials say they are fully cooperating with officials in a federal immigration investigation.
On Wednesday, around 400 people were arrested at five Pilgrim's Pride locations nationwide, including the plant in Moorefield, West Virginia.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement took several, hourly, non-management employees into custody for immigration-related crimes, including aggravated identity theft.
Ray Atkinson, Director of Corporate Communications for Pilgrim's Pride, says the company knew about the enforcement action in advance, and that they've been cooperating with the government.
"We share the government's goal in eliminating the hiring or employment of unauthorized workers, and that's why all of our US locations including the ones that were visited by ICE today voluntary participated." says Atkinson.
He also says no criminal or civil charges have been filed against Pilgrim's Pride.
