A 16-year-old suspect in a series of shootings along Interstate 64 last month will not be prosecuted as an adult.
Ruling Wednesday in Charlottesville, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Susan L. Whitlock denied the prosecution request to try the suspect as an adult. He is accused of 15 felony charges.
The judge scheduled the youth's juvenile court trial for May 7.
The other suspect, 19-year-old Slade Allen Woodson, is accused of 19 felonies in Albemarle County and Waynesboro.
Woodson is charged with firing at five cars traveling on I-64, slightly injuring two, and an unoccupied state truck.
The shootings occurred on March 27.
