A 32-year-old man says he's guilty of manslaughter in a drunken boating crash that left a Virginia police officer and his girlfriend dead on one of upstate New York's Finger Lakes.

Craig Cordes of Syracuse pleaded guilty Wednesday in Onondaga County Court to a single felony count of first-degree vehicular manslaughter. In exchange for his plea, Cordes is promised a prison sentence of 3 1/3 to 10 years. He was scheduled to go on trial next week and will be sentenced May 14.

Cordes was boating on Skaneateles Lake when he crashed into another boat, killing John Kelly and Heather Wilkins, both of Richmond, Virginia on July 8. Police say Cordes fled the scene without contacting authorities.
