Seven Middle and High Schoolers are out of the hospital after their bus crashed Monday morning.

It happened near the intersection of McClure's Mill Road and Springleigh Drive in Greenville, south of Staunton. The bus ran off the road and into a fence. All students on board were headed to Riverheads Elementary, Middle and High Schools.

The seven kids who were injured are 11 to 15 years old. Their injuries were minor but all went to Augusta Medical Center as a precaution. They and several other kids were passengers on bus 186.

About 8:00 a.m. Monday, State Police say the bus driver, Robert Earl Proffitt, got tired and ran off the road. State Police charged the 74-year-old man with reckless driving.

The district's assistant superintendent George Earhart says parents of all the children onboard were notified. Some picked up their kids at the scene and others went to school on another bus.
