A judge has ordered Harrisonburg City Treasurer Rebecca Neal suspended from her office pending the petition hearing now scheduled for June 12.

Judge James Lane released his decision early Friday afternoon.

He also appointed Jeffrey Shafer, Harrisonburg Chief Deputy Commissioner of Revenue, to fill the position of treasurer pending the outcome of the hearing to remove Neal permanently from the office.

The original hearing to remove Neal was scheduled for Thursday, but was delayed Wednesday until June.

Reinstate Nardi and restore Fitzwater to their previous positions and ranks. This is where Mrs. Neal has continued her arrogance and misjudgement: she made mistakes and tried to punish members in her office. Congratulations to the people that made her suspension possible! She does not deserve to have such a position of power or such a large salary.

Congratulations are due to the following: Dave Brigmann for his petition efforts. Carolyn Frank for her petition efforts. Marsha Garst for the people. Judge Lane for the right decision. Employees of Neal's office for continuing to do their job properly under extremely negative conditions. Reinstate Nardi and restore Fitzwater to their previous positions and ranks.

Hooray! Harrisonburg owes a debt of gratitude to Mr. Briggman, Carolyn Frank, Ms. Fitzwater and everyone who stepped forward to do the right thing!! We can be very proud.
