A Front Royal native jailed in South Dakota will spend more time behind bars.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Ridgway says 34-year-old Paul Soyars has received an additional 42 months of incarceration after writing threatening letters to President Bush. Ridgway says one of the letters was laced with a cleaning powder that labeled "amtrax," an apparent misspelling of anthrax.
Ridgway says Soyars sent a letter addressed to Bush regarding his disagreement with Bush's policy on funding AIDS research. The letter was intercepted through the jail's internal mail system.
Soyars is serving time in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota state penitentiary on charges of grand theft, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and attempted murder of another inmate.
