The Acting City Treasurer in Harrisonburg has rehired an employee that was fired by suspended Treasurer Rebecca Neal nearly two weeks ago.

Diane Nardi, who worked in the Treasurer's Office for 15 years, was fired by Neal on April 25, just one week before Neal was suspended from the office on May 2.

Acting Treasurer Jeffrey Shafer spoke with Nardi Tuesday, and rehired her to her former position as Master Governmental Deputy Treasurer. She will return to work on Wednesday.

Shafer said that he felt it was in the city's best interest to have Nardi return to the Treasurer's office.

I'd say quit worrying for tomorrow's elections and be grateful for today's repairs of the damage from Neal.

Like who? Cynthia can't run, Diane is near 60...what in the world are you talking about?

"All these people" can't run against each other. At least not for this office. Shafer and Nardi are the only city residents working in that office.

We'll see how well things work in the city's best interest when all of these people in that office run against each other in the next election.
