There has been an incident at Stuarts Draft Middle School involving students and a possible gun sale.

Three students were involved, one of whom brought it to the attention of a teacher Thursday.

The other two students were seen possibly exchanging the gun inside the school.

At this time, two eighth-graders are suspended until further notice.

Augusta County Schools Superintendent Dr. Gary McQuain will not go into detail regarding this situation but he did say the Augusta County Sheriff's Office was notified immediately after the incident was reported.

An investigation into this event is ongoing and the suspended students may face charges.

I would like to Thank all of you who support me for going on the news Friday. It wasn't the easiest decision because I have a daughter there and I don't want her or myself treated differently. I hope that the school and school board take this as a lesson learned and change policy.

I agree with the other comments on here that the schools haven't been handling gun issues correctly lately. As a parent of a SDES student I was upset at how the school handled the recent sniper shootings in Waynesboro. The shootings happened in the early morning hours and the culprits were still on the lose. Why wasn't school cancelled when the gunmen hadn't been caught yet?. Waynesboro Schools were closed right??. Had I known about the shootings that day before she went to school, I would have kept her home.

As a mother with a connection to law enforcement, I can say I hope these kids are never allowed to set foot in a school again. They are old enough to be punished for it criminally and when they are released their parents can home school them. Obviously they need more attention from their parents, anyway. They need to be an example to other students. Any children with that much disregard for others should not be exposed to other children.

The school said they did not find a gun there for the school was not put on lock down. Shouldn't it have been put on lock down why they found out. You send kids out of school if there are bomb threat you remove the children while you search, so why in the world would you not lock the school down to search for the gun. Somebody is trying to hide or cover up something, Just cause you have a pretty view of the mountains from you little offices don't mean things cant happen just like in bigger cities.

Did I hear gun, in a school, and where the children in the school? What was done to keep the children safe from this gun... And how did the parents learn about this and was the school in Lockdown until it was found? Just because we live in Stuarts Draft Va don't make us exempt... Has anyone saw what happend at VT, I think this was handled poorly on behalf of the Middle School....
