The Virginia National Guard says about 350 soldiers from Hampton Roads are returning home from service in the Middle East.

Officials say the soldiers from Portsmouth, Norfolk, Suffolk and Virginia Beach have served in Iraq and Kuwait since September 2007.

The soldiers are scheduled to return Saturday afternoon and will be welcomed by friends and family at the State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach.

While in the Middle East, troops worked in security, transportation, medical and humanitarian capacities.
