The storm water debate continues in Waynesboro. This time, the Waynesboro City Council discussed an ordinance imposing taxes on the city and its residents.

Frank Lucente suggested they introduce the ordinance with one change. Set the tax rate at 70 cents, instead of 74 cents.

Lorie Smith says she supports this, but would like to look into reductions to fund the stormwater program, because the council can always reduce the rate, but once it's set, they can't increase it.

Nancy Dowdy says she's also in support of a 70-cent tax rate, but has concerns about how they're going to get there with the stormwater program in the general fund.

The ordinance will be considered for adoption on May 27.
