While most of the attention is on the presidential race, Pendleton County's primary election will also determine the outcome for candidates for several local offices.
Voters have the chance to vote for two seats on the school board as well as voting for positions such as prosecuting attorney, magistrate, and county commissioner and others.
Election officials won't have any final numbers until after the polls close at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, but they're optimistic that voters turned out in high numbers.
"And since the weather's cleared, I think we'll see that today," says County Clerk Nancy Gonshor. "I think we'll see maybe 60 percent."
Voter registration across West Virginia is at its highest level since the 1950s, but in Pendleton County, officials say they're actually down about 100 voters from the 2006 general election.
