Hundreds came out Friday to a local auction at the Rockingham County Fairground to help support disaster relief victims.

The Shenandoah District's Church of the Brethren hosted it's 16th annual auction.

Church members hope to raise close to last years amount of $215,000.

Various gift baskets, food, quilts, blankets, and livestock will be auctioned off to raise funds to send to disaster stricken areas in the United States.

Weyers Cave resident Sandra Nelson says, "I had a friend that invited me and I'm really happy to see that this goes to a real needy cause. I'm bidding on a bird house, and I'm bidding on many things. I put my bid down."

Another auction will be held Saturday morning for quilts.
