There's a new telemarketing scam hitting Virginia and parts of Ohio and Alabama.
Tom Gallagher with the Better Business Bureau says the company calls itself "American Values." He says the scam uses the names of well-known companies such as Kmart and Wal-Mart to support their sales pitch -- but those companies have nothing to do with this company.
Gallagher says the telemarketers are fast talkers who won't take "no" for an answer, and insist on getting your credit card number. He says DON'T give your credit card number to telemarketers, or your social security or bank account numbers. Hang up on them.
He also recommends hanging up if they offer you a free prize, but charge a fee.
