Another black bear sighting has been reported in the Richmond area.

Officials got calls about the animal at around 11 p.m. Sunday near downtown Richmond's Monroe Park, which is amid the Virginia Commonwealth University campus.

Two other bear sightings were reported in Chesterfield County last week.

Police and animal-control officers say they haven't found any bears, but did spot two large black dogs that might have been the source of the reports.

Animal experts say this is the time of year that bears come out of hibernation and search for food, even in cities.

Biologists blame bear nuisance problems on a shortage of wild food and more people moving into bear territory.
