Staunton City Council has put its support behind the Newtown Business Guild.

You may remember back in December we told you about the quest to revitalize parts of West Beverley Street in Staunton. Members of the Newtown Business Guild told Council Tuesday night the area's streets are narrow, shops are closed up and there's a lack of parking.

"It's our hope that we can work with the city in addressing the parking issues, utilization of alleys and streets that aren't improve right now," said Charles Bishop of Newtown Business Guild. "And we want to get some professional advice on the parking and traffic flow."

And Bishop's hopes have come to pass, Council voted unanimously to apply for a $25,000 grant for a study to see how bad the Newtown area actually is.
