Police have identified the two women killed in an accident in Augusta County.

State police say Wanda Virginia Stambaugh, from Fredericksburg, and Barbara Jean Trent, from Gauley Bridge, West Virginia, died in the accident.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Route 340 and Route 612.

The two victims were wearing their seat belts. State Police say they were headed toward Verona on Rt. 612 in a silver Toyota Corolla, witnesses say they crossed the intersection without yielding to a stop sign, and were broad-sided by a blue Ford Explorer.

The Corolla came to a stop against a vehicle parked at the BP gas station on the corner.

The 19 year old male driver of the Explorer, Jason Scott Adkins, was taken to the Augusta Medical Center.

The crash is under investigation at this time.

How many deaths is it really gonna take to get a traffic light in Crimora?

There have been so many accidents at that intersection. There needs to be a traffic signal not just a stop sign.
