The Harrisonburg Education Foundation recognized some special teachers from around the Valley Wednesday. Six teachers were named Educators of the Year for Harrisonburg City schools.

The teachers were nominated by parents, students, community members, and other teachers.

Each nomination form was accompanied by a $25 donation. The money raised from the event goes into the Harrisonburg education foundation.

Educators of the year were:

- Vicki Harris from Harrisonburg High School
- Pat Harmon from Thomas Harrison Middle School
- Angela Baylor from Keister Elementary School
- Dianne Murray from Spotswood Elementary School
- Shannon Goodson from Stone Spring Elementary School
- Karen Matthias from Waterman Elementary School
