FBI agents and IRS officials raided several businesses and residences in Page County Thursday morning. An FBI spokesperson says, during one of the raids, an FBI agent was accidentally shot, but suffered minor injuries.
Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, witnesses say they saw FBI agents at an Exxon station in Stanley. Agents were also seen at a residence in Page County during the morning hours.
FBI agents were seen at the IBR Corporation in Luray, which is owned by three brothers: Isaac, Bill and Rick George. The Valley Exxon station that was raided is also owned by Isaac George, Jr.
Even though the FBI, IRS, and state police were seen throughout the county, they are staying tight-lipped about the investigation. Now this raid is the talk of the town.
"I was going to pull in to get gas today and both ends of the road was blocked and then I noticed the state trooper was guarding the parking lot," says an anonymous witness.
While most people declined to go on camera, this resident says he knows the owners of the IBR Corporation.
"I know most all of them," says the witness. "And the people that work in the store that I was going to stop at, they're good people too. So, you know, I never really heard nothing out of them, you know. If it is, it's hushed."
Although we haven't been able to confirm it, a source says the FBI and IRS were going after the owners because of tax evasion, drugs, and insurance fraud. During the raids, the entrances were blocked off at the owner's residences and at their farms.
"They raise poultry and all kinds of stuff too, and also a sod business and stuff like that," says the witness.
Another witness, Fred Miller, says, "I heard they seized all the houses of the owners and everything. They're checking them out. They're carrying boxes of files outside. I don't know what's going on after that."
While everyone is talking about it, no one seems to know exactly what is going on.
"Small town, you hear all kinds of stuff you know," says a witness.
The Valley Exxon was closed while agents searched the business and took out boxes. It did reopen Thursday afternoon.
The U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI and the IRS all declined to say for what they were looking. People in town say the owners have farms all over the county, including several chicken houses, and that they employ hundreds of workers.

Well they will pay there way out of this like they do everything else. MONEY TALKS!!!
I have been following all the comments for several days now and I am absolutely amazed at the poor spelling and grammar displayed by most of the citizens of our County. Maybe we should be investigating the local school system rather than IBR to see how so many uneducated people can possibly live in one place. If we put this much time and effort into our schools our students would be doing alot more than making bomb threats. Get real!!
none of the local police were involved because it was an illegal search no papers were served no one was arrested nothing illegal was found on any properties. All that was taken were records and personal saving. better start putting your money in a tin can in the garden for safe keeping...
