Traffic Troubles

Wednesday's storms caused traffic delays all of the Valley and in the Washington D.C. area.

Things also got scary in the northern Shenandoah Valley. Route 7 in Clarke County closed in both directions due to downed power lines, some of which were near the Shenandoah River bridge.

Traffic backed up for miles in both directions. Even school buses got stuck, so parents drove down to Route 7 to pick up their kids.

The mountain itself was closed off to thru-traffic. The national weather service is classifying it as wind damage until they get a chance to investigate whether or not there was tornado activity in the area.

Development Lawsuit

In Frederick County, a lawsuit filed against the management of gated community Lake Holiday could run the development into the ground. At least that's what the development's president of the board of directors, Wayne Power, fears.

Thirty-eight property owners are suing Lake Holiday, claiming the board should not serve as a statutory property owner's association.

Poyer says the charges go back to a technicality in Lake Holiday's deeds of dedication that were drawn up in the early '70s.

A victory for the plaintiffs could spell trouble for resident services. A hearing is scheduled for July 3.

Thief Caught

In Warren County, the sheriff's office made a major catch Wednesday after a routine traffic stop turned into a vehicle and foot pursuit.

Police arrested 37-year-old Ramonda Southall of Baltimore, Maryland. Deputies confiscated 18 chainsaws, three concrete saws and one hedge trimmer from his car.

They also found burglary tools, hoods, gloves and a mask in the vehicle.

Police say the stolen equipment came from break-ins early Wednesday morning in Rockingham and Shenandoah counties.

Southall is being held at the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Regional Jail without bond. He faces felony charges of breaking and entering and grand larceny in both Rockingham and Shenandoah counties as well as one felony count of eluding law enforcement in Warren County.

The Board at Lake Holiday is a complete joke. A committee member mailed around a 5 page letter mocking another member's handicap. The Board was advised about the dues problem but collected Millions anayway. What elese can I say to better describe this place??
