Due to the FDA advisory on the consumption of certain raw tomatoes, Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets have taken the precautionary measure to pull from sale all red roma and organic round tomatoes grown in locations that are still under investigation by the FDA for their possible connection to a salmonella outbreak.
All other tomatoes currently supplied to Giant and Martin's produce departments, including tomatoes available on the salad bar, have been harvested from growing regions that are not affected by the FDA advisory or are not implicated in the nationwide advisory.
This advisory does not affect Nature's Promise organic tomatoes which remain safely for sale in our stores.
This precautionary measure was taken to reassure customers that food safety is and will remain an utmost priority for Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets. Signs are being posted in produce departments informing customers of our actions and customers who return tomatoes to the store because of concerns will be provided with a full refund.

What about other stores such as Kroger, Food Lion and Wal-Mart? I purchased roma tomatoes at one of these stores on Sunday. Are these tomatoes affected? If so, will these stores also offer a refund?
