During the past several months, there has been an ongoing problem at the Salvation Army in Waynesboro.

Police and organizations officials say there has been an increase in the amount of trash being dumped and valuable items stolen at the site during times when there is no staff present to accept donation.

Both the dumping and the stealing are crimes under Virginia law.

If you wish to make a legitimate donation, the Salvation Army is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
