West Virginia law firms are suing three drug companies over a heart drug recalled in April after reports of injury and illness from high doses.

The drug, Digitek, is manufactured by New Jersey-based Actavis Totowa. It was distributed by Pennsylvania-based Mylan Pharmaceuticals and Illinois-based UDL Laboratories.

All three companies are defendants in the lawsuits, two of which have been filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court and one in Putnam County Circuit Court.

The lawsuits allege that people were injured and even killed by taking the regular doses of the drug.

When it announced the voluntary recall in April, Actavis said some tablets on the market may have contained twice the appropriate level of an ingredient that can cause illness and death.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
