RESTON, Va. (AP) -- Two passengers in a taxi cab have been killed in northern Virginia after the vehicle was struck head-on by another car.
Fairfax County police say two men ages 29 and 34 of Sterling died in the crash Saturday morning. They were not wearing seatbelts. The 47-year-old driver of the taxi was taken to a hospital in serious condition, along with the 24-year-old driver of the other car.
Police say 24-year-old Jimenez Benitez of Herndon was driving south on the Fairfax County Parkway when he veered into the northbound lanes and struck the taxi about 1:45 a.m. near Wiehle Avenue.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Police say Benitez has been charged with two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter. He will be transferred to a detention center.
