RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Richmond police say the fatal shootings of a couple appear to be a murder-suicide.
Two officers shot while trying to check on the couple are recovering from non-life threatening wounds.
The shootings occurred Saturday afternoon at a residence.
Police say in a news release that officers went to the residence at the request of family members. They went inside after they couldn't contact anyone and determined that a woman might be in danger or need medical attention.
Police say a man shot at the officers. They returned fire and then left the residence.
A SWAT team arrived and unsuccessfully tried to make contact with the people in the residence. The team then entered the house and found the bodies of a man and a woman. Their names haven't been released.
