HARRISONBURG, Va---The opening of a new grocery store will bring nearly 40 jobs to Harrisonburg.

Food Maxx, which will open its doors on West Market Street, is now accepting applications ranging from cashier to meat counter staff.

Manager Jin Oh said the store will open in a month and a half, if it passes all the inspections. Currently, crews are finishing construction and electrical work.

The store manager said owners picked this location because there are no grocery stores on that side of town..

"We're going to bring a lot of imported goods so that brings a lot of parts that Harrisonburg doesn't carry so we're hoping to cater to the diversity," said Oh.

He said Food Maxx also wants to attract people from Roanoke and Charlottesville who may travel as far as Centreville to get groceries,

This Food Maxx is not from the California chain, the owner is from Virginia. There is another store located in Winchester.
