While Santa and Christmas trees are symbolic of Christmas today, one Valley church is going back to the original idea of the holiday.
Afton's Hebron Baptist church is recreating the Village of Bethlehem.
They call it the Living Christmas Story -- where costumed characters recreate what they believe happened on the first Christmas.
Organizers say it's to give the community a real sense of what Christmas is all about.
"We have an entire village here, full of roman guards, camels, and shopkeepers," explained director David Riley. "We really bring you back and make you feel like you are there. You are elbow to elbow with what it was like to be in Bethlehem at that time."
You can visit the Living Christmas Story at the Hebron Baptist Church in Afton from six to nine on Friday and Saturday nights up to Christmas day.
