A student was hit crossing South Main Street this past Thursday. This is not the first time someone has been hit crossing the street close to JMU.But the university is working one something that will help get foot student foot traffic off of South Main Street. There are plan for a tunnel that would connect from the quad to the other side of the street.
The tunnel would also help students and faculty get to a new performing arts center on the other side of the road.JMU just finished feasibility studies to see if it can work."It will be a much safer way for people to get to and from campus from the West side of Main Street," says JMU spokesman Andy Perrine.JMU will get the results back from the study in a few weeks.
