A former West Virginia man has been captured in Virginia 18 years after failing to show up for sentencing in the sexual assault of a five-year-old boy.

Tazewell, Virginia Police Chief Brian Hieatt says Jesse Howard Weaver Jr. was arrested on a bench warrant Wednesday after police received a tip.

The 39-year-old Weaver was convicted of first-degree sexual assault in McDowell County. The bench warrant was issued in October 1990. At the time Weaver's address was listed as Iaeger.

Police say Weaver was living in Tazewell under the alias Jerry Lee Moore, Jr.

State Police Trooper C.K. Morton in Welch says Weaver faces up to 25 years in prison on the sexual assault conviction.
