Staunton said it's been ready since Sunday to tackle Monday's wintry weather.
About 35 city workers were out on the Queen City streets Monday- driving salt spreaders and plow trucks while mechanics also were standing by.
While workers with the Department of Public Works are out to help residents-- they also ask you to help them.
"The main thing we ask people when the snow starts coming down is if you don't have to drive, please don't," said Staunton's Director of Public Works, Tom Sliwoski. "Give the plows plenty of room so the men can work. The tucks cannot stop on a dime so just be watching out for snow plows and snow removal equipment."
Sliwoski expects crews to be out working on the city streets into the night.
