Forty-one high school students from across the Commonwealth learned what a Cyber City is Wednesday. They spent the day learning about new technology and computer information systems at James Madison University.
Cyber City is asummer camp, funded by JMU's College of Business, that allows students to experience college life and learn about some of the hot new careers available.
The students demonstrated how hi-tech identification systems can help separated family members find each other after disasters.
Tandylyn Terry, a JMU junior, says, "A lot of them don't have a lot of exposure to it. They don't have a lot of practice with it. So coming here allows them to see how technology works on a college campus. It gives them exposure. It gives them time to practice. A lot of skills they might use if they come to JMU and become a business major because some of the things that they are learning, we will learn here."
The students will have a chance to show what they learned this week at Showker Hall Saturday.
