Severe weather has damaged cars in the Valley, but auto body shops are welcoming the business.
In a suffering economy, any business is good business. During the past few weeks, vehicles have been damaged by hail and wind-blown debris.
Turner's Auto Body in Luray has seen a 50-percent increase in cars coming in due to storm damage with damage estimates running from $4,000 to upwards of $12,000. Each car requires between 50 and 60 hours of labor depending on the extent of the damage.
Matt Gibbs, the estimator at the body shop, says the extra cars are welcomed, as business had dropped about 40 percent when gas prices spiked.
He also mentioned they're expecting another round of weather damaged cars within the next one to three weeks from the storms that produced damaging hail last weekend.
