Tim Lacey is seeking a third term. Tom Mendez is looking to win for the 2nd time. Both men say they want to keep teacher salaries competitive and continue to meet challenges bought on by S.O.L's. Mendez also wants to focus more on the city's gifted students.
"I have learned a lot in the last four years and I would like to think that that knowledge places me in a great position to be a more effective board member my second term," says Mendez.
Lacey owns his own building company. He points out while he served on the school boards building committee; they saved thousands off dollars on building and renovation projects.
"Overall it been very rewarding. It's been very beneficial. We have met a lot of people and feel like we have had an impact on making Harrisonburg a great school system," says Lacey.
Elections are set for May 2.
