After a two year break, a former Valley councilman says he wants to give it another shot.
Dorn Peterson has asked the Harrisonburg Republicans for their nomination to run for city council.
Peterson was on the council from 2000 to 2004 and in the last election with three open seats, he came in 5th. He points out that he only lost by about 200 votes and the turnout was the worst it has been in years.
Peterson says thinks he can be of great service to the city. " If I had to pick out one thing that I did better than anybody else on council the 4 years I was on, it was I was asking questions that needed to be asked that nobody else was asking I think I bring that to council and I would bring it again," says Peterson.
Peterson says if he does not get the Republican nomination on March 2, he will not run.
