An 88-year-old Staunton woman is in the hospital Monday afternoon after getting into a car accident with a city garbage truck.
It happened around 12:30 Monday afternoon on Greenville Avenue in Staunton.
Police said the woman turned left in front of the truck, which was driving in the opposite direction. It took rescue workers about thirty minutes to get her out of the car.
She was treated at University of Virginia Medical Center for bruised lungs and fractured ribs.
Police said no charges will be filed.
