Police in Woodstock confirm a construction worker has died in an accident at the town's wastewater treatment plant.

Police say the accident happened early Tuesday morning at the plant on Mill Road.

The town manager says workers from Lantz Construction were removing a metal part from a construction crane around 6:30 a.m. when that part fell to the ground, hitting a worker below.

The identity of the man who was killed has not been released. He died at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry is investigating the accident.

Dear Crystal, We just found out about Petey. Our extended family is grieving with you.The family has been seperated for many years, and at a time like this is when family is needed. By the sounds of it Petey was well thought of by friends and family. He was an adorable little boy and it breaks my heart to think of him gone from us. If you would like to get in touch with me just contact the station and they will give you my email.Hopefully. I also have a daughter in law named Crystal. God Bless you . Aunt Kat

The construction worker was like my brother I have known him 19 years. We all love him, and he will be missed very much. I think the crane workers need to pay more attention to their surroundings so this does not happen anymore. Take my brothers death as a learning experience please be more careful.

Please keep this young mans family in your prayers, along with friends and family. And remember to pray for people you may know that have dangerous jobs. Very very sad.
