Waynesboro Police are investigating a string of moped thefts that happened within 24 hours of each other. On Tuesday night, mopeds were taken from the 600 block of Sherwood Avenue and the 400 block of West Main. The next night, another moped went missing from South Magnolia Avenue.
The missing mopeds include a silver 2003 Yamaha Vino, a blue 2004 Yamaha, and a green and white 2005 Honda Metropolitan II.
The Wal-Mart in Staunton is reporting a grand larceny of four flat-screen TVs. The TVs were stolen on Monday, and a Wal-Mart worker saw the thieves on surveillance video. Police say the suspects left in a red van. The stolen TVs are worth more than $4,000.
In Augusta County, the Sheriff's Office is reporting $450 worth of stolen firearms. The guns were reported taken from Buckboard Road in Stuarts Draft on Monday.
Also in Stuarts Draft, a safe was stolen from a home on Lake Road on Saturday. The safe contained some cash and a .22-caliber gun, worth a total of more than $1,000.
The fireworks ban in Harrisonburg is being enforced even before the Fourth of July. Police investigated four reports of fireworks violations in June in the city, but three of them turned out to be unfounded.
In Shenandoah County, two license plates were stolen on consecutive nights at businesses on Old Valley Pike in Woodstock. The plates went missing last Thursday and Friday.
