Eighteen leaders gathered on the courthouse steps Wednesday to show their support for state senate candidate Mark Obenshain.
Obenshain is running for the Republican nomination in the 26th district. Delegates Glenn Weatherholtz and Chris Saxman and Rockingham County Supervisor Pablo Cuevas all spoke in favor of Obenshain.
"Mark Obenshain is not an extreme. He is a very sensible man that knows what government is all about, what tax dollars are all about. I think he's going to give us one heck of a representative in Richmond," said Cuevas.
Obenshain has gained 74 percent of the city's votes for the Republican nomination. He will compete for Rockingham County's endorsement against opponent Matt Tederick at the end of March.
