People may have noticed that Blacks Run looks a little bit clearer these days, and it's all thanks to one local man who has made it his mission to clean up the streams.

"We call him the 'Angel of Blacks Run' because, you know, he's so unselfish and everything," says Harrisonburg resident, Shelby Holden.

Charles Coleman, Jr. spends six to eight hours everyday cleaning up the streams of Blacks Run. It's not his job but he's made it his very own personal mission to clean up the notoriously dirty creek.

Coleman says, "Every time you walk by Blacks Run, it was full of trash and I just got tired of looking at it."

Since March, Coleman has been making the daily trip from his nearby apartment to the stream. He says he's picked up more than 150 bags of trash so far.

While he is out longer on some days, he says it's a great way to pass the time while doing something positive.

"Not only does it give me some exercise, it also gives me something to do, and it also helps the community," says Coleman.

The neighbors have caught on to his good deed. They realize how much work he puts into cleaning the waters.

Holden adds, "Anything unselfish really gets my attention and he's been putting in long hours working in that creek."

Coleman has spent long hours picking up clothes, marbles, bottles, and even horseshoes from the stream. Neighbors already notice a difference in the stream and they have a special message for Coleman.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about the environment around here," says Holden.

Next time you pass by Blacks Run creek and notice a man sifting through the stream, you will know that it's Charles Coleman, but you can also call him the 'Angel of Blacks Run.'

Way to go, Charles Coleman! Your neighbor is right. It is a work of love to take your own time and effort to clean up Black's Run. The community appreciates it. Thank you TV 3 for covering this story. He truly is the Angel of Black's Run!
