Cancer survivors joined hundreds of JMU students who spent the night raising money for St. Jude Children’s' Hospital. The group, Up Til’ Dawn, hosted its 2nd annual all-nighter this weekend and raised about $9,500.
It hopes to hold several more fund-raisers and beat its 2002 year-end total of $16,000.
Assistant Director Jennifer Granito says the cause is worth the work.
"The hospital costs on average over 800 thousand dollars per day to run and it all comes in from donations from groups that do things like this," she says.
A child's chance of surviving cancer is about 80 percent today thanks to the research done at St. Jude's. If you'd like to contribute to the cause, email email@example.com.
