Three years ago, a father dealt with the pain of losing his infant son by turning to online gaming to pass the time.

His name is Jason Kubin. In 2005, his baby son, Ikarius, was murdered. Kubin remembers how difficult the time was.

He says, "After my son had passed, I started looking for something to take the place of the way I was feeling. I was constantly down and reminded of the times that had past and things that weren't going to happen."

To keep himself busy, he started Operation Strategic Assault Team, an online gaming group known as Operation S@T. Cash tournaments brought in computer players from all over the world. One day, Kubin realized the money could be put to better use.

He says, "It just seemed to me that we could do just a little bit more or do something better with that money and still provide the players with the ability to play the games and get recognition for their skill level."

The tournaments now raise money for charities such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Heart and Stroke Association, and the Make a Wish Foundation. Kubin hopes other groups catch on and start donating too.

He says, "We are the first of our kind. I'm hoping that other gaming communities or other gaming teams follow suit."

Since establishing the group, Kubin's efforts have not only helped charity groups. They have helped him cope with his son's passing.

"It kind of makes me want to, I don't know if you can say put a band aid on the situation, but there are a lot of bad things in this world but there are a lot of good things you just have to learn to look for them," says Kubin.

The gaming also helps him keep Ikarius' memory alive.

Kubin says, "I really think that by doing this for the team, I can do this as sort of a dedication for my son and let him know, just because you're not here in this world, doesn't mean you are not a part of this team that was intended for you."

Delta Force Two is the game of choice for the group. If you would like more information, visit the group's Website at the link below.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have some very exciting news to share. Thanks to TV3 helping us get the word out, and our current efforts, one of our members Bluelace has been selected to represent Canada's Blood Services as a spokesperson who will do public appearances. We will be shooting a PSA for them next week in Harrisonburg Va.!!!!! Ladies and gentleman, the amount of support that has been coming in has been very overwhelming and a great reminder of the beauty that lies in the hearts of us all. I would like to thank TJ's Dermagraphics in Harrisonburg, Innovative Studios (Harrisonburg Division), Computer Recycling of Virginia, and all those of you from around the world who are sending donations. God bless you all

I have only been a part of this team for a short time. We have come together as a faimly. Each player on this team has touched every player in some way. I am very proud to be part of this team. I know that we will continue to grow and hope to inspire others to do the same, walk in our footsteps, and find it in them to give in some way. Together we can ALL touch a life and make a small change in any way we can.

That is really neat that Jason is trying to do something good for the community. Especially from what happened not so long ago.

I have been a player of the deltaforce series since the beginning. I used to serve on S@T. I must tell you, these people on this team are wonderful. The team shares a family bond and they do so much for their members too. I was talking with a current SAT AGENT (as they like to be called) and he tells me that they are doing school incentive programs and stuff to help the members with money when they are down and out. I love this team and the game was never the same when they arrived. They brought life back to an old classic and even made it more enjoyable with their DF2 League that Jason founded. And let me tell you about him. Jason, the guy in this article is a close friend of mine. I have watched him grow up and life tossed him every soured lemon it could. He just keeps getting back up. And after all that has happened to him, here he is, thinking of others. If there was an award for a person like this, he'd be a sure winner. So would his teammates.

Hey everyone, TV3, and the DF2 Community for helping promote and making this event a success. It was a very exciting evening with only 1 server hang (which is saying a lot in this game). We were able to raise $81.00 for the MDA this go around. And there are Donations from Canada and the UK that are on the way. Lt. Dog SAT was the victor followed by "JJ" in 2nd and C&C Eversman S@T in 3rd. Everyone enjoyed playing for a good cause and the MDA was a great way to start off our Charity Service. If you would like to join Operation S@T (FREE), Check us out at http://Recruiting.SAT-Ops.com and submit your application. All ages are welcomed to join and Parents are encouraged to sign their children up for our Cadet/Youth program where they can play in a safe and friendly environment. Plus weekly emails to you on how your child is doing or any problems that may need your attention or awareness. Together, S@T is a Safe Haven for Kids... And Parents too if you're good at the game. Thanks!!!
