Police say a former Winchester resident who has been a fugitive for two years has been captured near Pittsburgh.

Captain Timothy Carter with the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old John Jackson was caught Friday in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, in a home he shared with his wife and three children.

Carter says Jackson eluded Virginia officers in a chase near Mount Jackson in January.

Jackson, who has been on the lam since February 2001, was arrested on a fugitive warrant stemming from his failure to appear in Warren County Circuit Court to answer on drug and gun charges. Jackson's brother, 37-year-old James Jackson, of Martinsburg,

West Virginia, was shot and killed by Winchester Police officers last Christmas. Police have said he was a suspect in a Winchester-area drug ring.
