The Bridgewater squad has outgrown its current building. It's about $600,000 short of reaching its goal of $750,000 in donations.
When the old building was built in 1973, it held four vehicles and 20 volunteers. Now the squad owns seven vehicles and has more than 80 volunteers.
But new state regulations are the volunteers' biggest concern.
"Many of those rules and regulations, we are unable to meet at the current facility," said Becky Anhold of Bridgewater Rescue Squad. "Therefore, we are needing to make those changes to meet the speculations."
The rescue squad will be holding a ground breaking on its new facility this weekend. For more information, to volunteer or to make a donation, call them at 540-828-3395.
