After several delays, construction will finally begin on Port Republic Road this week.

One of the first steps is to move power lines along the road, which will cost about $2 million. However, the contractor doing this job had to finish another project first.

Port Republic Road is currently a two-lane road in the area. It will be transformed into a four-lane road with a double-left turn lane in the middle and a bike trail running parallel to the road.

The final phase of the project will take about 12 months to complete.
