A multistory building housing condominiums, restaurants, office space and a two-level parking garage isn't too far off from opening.

The Urban Exchange on East Market Street in Harrisonburg is expected to be ready for use by this fall. The building will offer 190 residential units and workers say the structure will be built in a way that will use less electricity.

A concrete foreman working at the site says the building will add a lot to the Friendly City as it continues to grow.

Brett Herboldsheimer says, "It influxes a lot of jobs and money into the economy. It adds of sort of a vibrant addition of money for things for people to see and do,and new places to live."

Herboldsheimer says the building will refresh the downtown area. However, the parking garage will only be available to those who live in the condominiums.

Is that fall of 08 or 09 doesn't look like near enough work done to be done in two or three months

I am so excited to see this building go up simply because it involved tearing down that ugly yellow Eastern Car place. That thing would make me PUKE every time I drove by it.
