A Harrisonburg woman locked herself inside her bathroom and called police for help as a man broke into her home.

Police arrested Richard Wayne Eley after a short chase. They say around 1 a.m. Wednesdasy, he broke in through an unlocked bedroom window at the woman's home in the 600 block of Broad St in Harrisonburg.

Raquel Roman says she asked him to leave and when he didn't, she locked herself in the bathroom and called 911. Roman and Eley had been in a relationship in the past.

Eley was charged with felony breaking and entering and issued a summons for being drunk in public. He was also wanted for failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge. He's being held without bond at the Rockingham County Jail.
