For the first time, West Virginia will join the interstate yard sale known as the Lincoln Highway Buy-Way.

David Nurmi, director of the Chester-Newell Chamber of Commerce, says those two towns will participate August 7 to 9. This is the event's fourth year.

The Lincoln Highway Historic Byway was the first coast-to-coast paved road. Signs direct customers to hundreds of yard sales in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and West Virginia.

Nurmi said Thursday the yard sales are not typical: The emphasis is on collectibles and antiques. Clothing, for example, isn't sold unless it's vintage or antique.

Organizers say sellers are uniting to create larger venues this year. That makes for safer traffic, easier parking and restroom access.
